Dear Justice Family,
We have so much to be thankful for this school year in particular! The hard work and dedication by all stakeholders of Justice Street Academy Charter have proven to be effective. Our efforts have been recognized time and time again. This year, Justice Street Academy Charter was granted the 2016 Gold Ribbon Schools Award by the California Department of Education. This prestigious award recognizes the collaborative efforts at our school and reflects what we already know --- Justice is the place to be!
Additionally, this year we received special recognition from LAUSD as a continuing School for Advanced Studies Program and as a 2015 Arts Program School. What an incredible feeling to know that all of our efforts to provide a rich and well-rounded elementary school experience are being noted by our District! We are proud to be a California Distinguished School, an Affiliated Charter, and a part of the 900+ Honor Schools. Our students are flourishing as we continue our journey through Common Core Standards and Smarter Balanced testing. This is a direct result of the drive to excel and establish our school as one of the best in LAUSD. A huge “congratulations” to all stakeholders is in order for building a warm, safe, and nurturing learning environment. Let’s continue to thrive and build upon all of our successes.
It is my belief that the true success of a school is based on the strength of the partnership between the school, parents, students, and community stakeholders. Justice Street Academy Charter is a shining example of this combined effort. Thank you for building opportunities throughout the school year that gave all of our kids a chance to thrive and maximize their learning potentials. I am so honored to be a part of the Justice Street family and I am looking forward to the endless possibilities in store for the future. Together, we can continue to excel as a California Distinguished School and surpass our greatest dreams for our school community.
The teachers and staff have worked relentlessly this year to ensure that we are providing a rigorous and nurturing learning environment. Thank you for your unparalleled commitment to our students. I am so impressed by your willingness to go above and beyond every day. All staff members at our school have shown their passion for working with kids and have been an inspiration to us all. Your dedication and influence on our students will last a lifetime! Thank you for providing the best instructional program and for building strong character among our students.
I would just like to say yet again, Justice Street School PTA is #1! Our amazing parents have been so supportive and I am amazed by how much is accomplished throughout the year. The events, assemblies, programs, field trips (and so much more) will forever hold a place in our hearts and memories. Your generous donation to our school allows us to provide a well-rounded program for our students and enrich the learning process. Thank you for your constant support and for being a motivating force in our community. Special thanks to our outgoing (and outstanding) PTA President, Amanda McDaniel! Your “can-do” attitude will be greatly missed. Thank you to all of our parent volunteers and especially our dedicated 5th grade parents.
Lastly, I would like to give a big thank you to all of our wonderful students! You are a powerhouse and I have truly enjoyed watching you grow and learn this year. Our students are charismatic, talented, and always willing to step up to roles of leadership. You have given your best this year and we are all very proud of your accomplishments! I want to wish our 5th grade scholars all the best as they transition to middle school, high school, college, and beyond. Set your goals high, dream big, and you can accomplish great things. The sky’s the limit!
In closing, my message to our students comes from some of my favorite Dr. Seuss excerpts. The meaning behind these selected lines speaks volumes. Believe in yourselves…I believe in you!
“The more that you read,
the more things you will know.
The more that you learn,
the more places you’ll go.”
- I Can Read with My Eyes Shut!
“Think left and think right
and think low and think high.
Oh, the THINKS you can think up
if only you try!"
- Oh, the Thinks You Can Think!
All My Best,
Cynthia Hernandez Morrison
